Getting out of "Dodge"

Ron and I so rarely have time to get away.....usually only a day here and there, so we try to take advantage of those short time periods as best we can.  It's what we call "Getting out of Dodge."  Ron will usually ask me "Shall we go north or south?"  I always answer "North." ......less traffic, less people, and the scenery is beautiful.  Tuesday, May 27th was a day that we had a few hours, so off we went.  And you know me, I always take my camera with me.

We headed north, and found ourselves at Deception Pass, Coupeville, Fort Casey & Admiralty Head Lighthouse, and Anacortes. I took a lot of pictures, so there are a lot of shots of the same area.  So.....just grin and bear it.

The tide was coming in, so the current going through Deception Pass was extremely swift.  There were lots of fishing boats that were trying to go out to fish, and there were a few of them that really struggled against the current.  One boat looked like he was moving about 1 foot every 10 seconds......we almost didn't think he was going to make it.

We finally ended up in Anacortes....one of our favorite places to go.  It was a beautiful afternoon, so we just wandered around the marina, then had some dinner before heading home.  We weren't gone very long.....but it felt like a mini-vacation..,...which is exactly why we "get out of Dodge."
