We drove them over to Deception Pass......I'm not sure if Uncle Ed had ever been there before. It was a beautiful warm day, so everything was extra gorgeous.
Since it was such a lovely day, we decided to drive up to the top of Mt. Erie, just outside the city of Anacortes. The view from the top is breathtaking, to say the least. The photo below is looking south, down the length of Whidbey Island, with Campbell Lake in the foreground. Camano Island is off in the distance, to the very top left of the photo.

The wind was not blowing at all, so it was calm and warm at the top of Mt. Erie......there were several other people there enjoying the view. I think we all could have stayed there a while longer, except we were getting a bit hungry.....so we headed down to the marina area in Anacortes. We took them to the newly refurbished Seafarer's Memorial Park for a picnic of chicken, fruit salad and birthday cake.
We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the park watching the boats going in and out of the harbor. Can you believe that my mother is 83? She's always game for a new adventure!
